OUR LAST MISSION.

Describe your image

During our most recent medical mission to Uganda in November 2024, the Alon Project delivered life-changing care to women living with obstetric fistulas.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the mission was an outstanding success, working across three rural hospitals, performing 61 surgeries with a 100% surgical success rate, and providing vital medical care to many more women. Through expert surgery and compassionate, collaborative care, women who had endured years of pain, isolation, and stigma were able to reclaim their health, dignity, and place in their communities.
This work is an absolute privilege and is made possible by our dedicated Australian and Ugandan teams, with special thanks to Dr Ian Asiimwe, Ms Agnes Nakakawa, Dr Carmen Macdonald, and our Board of Directors: Melinda Jones, Laura Hayden, JD Lewis, Marshall Sagan, and Carmen Macdonald. The stories shared alongside these images reflect the real impact of this mission; names have been changed to protect privacy.
PREVENTION.

One of the main contributing factors of obstetric fistula is lack of access to emergency obstetric care when needed.
A proven way of combating the access issue is through high-risk waiting homes.
We now have a high-risk waiting home in Hoima that The Alon Project coordinated and planned the development of.
